All contracts should be in the full legal corporate name of the university (i.e., not the name of the school or division). That name is: The George Washington University If you find that identifying the responsible school or division is necessary, the contracting party may be identified as “the George Washington University on behalf of its School of ________.” A contract should never be made in the name of just a school, office, division or department; the full legal corporate name of the university should always be used when first representing the institution.
